We usually go into a new year hoping for something new, but usually for there to be something new, something else we are attached to is sacrificed. Somehow that truth escapes us. For a new body, we have to give up time to workout; for a new attitude, we have to give up an old belief we identified with; and so on. When I caught myself thinking, “Next year certainly has to be better since this year my mother died, and a significant love relationship ended,” I smiled at my foolishness. What will 2014 look like? Yes, 2014, like all other years will be filled with joy and sorrow, lessons and growth. The energy we target towards magical optimism for a new year better serves us in understanding ourselves more, with each new year. Peace and blessings to all in 2014! — Sofia
